Friendship Kinderhilfe e.V. is a charitable organisation with its headquarters in Oldenburg. Founded almost 30 years ago, the association has set itself the goal of providing needy children in Sri Lanka with a home and thus protection, food and education.
Although the general situation in Sri Lanka has improved with the end of the civil war in 2009, there are still many disadvantaged children (especially girls) who have no access to education due to poverty or are abandoned by their families. Such children can find refuge in the children’s home of Bandarawela.
We support the children’s home with regular donations from Germany, 100% of which also arrive there, as we members work voluntarily and can pass on the collected donations in full.
The donations are used for food, clothing of the children, maintenance of the home and school attendance.
The children's home we support is located in Bandarawela and thus in the heart of Sri Lanka. It is run by five nuns under the sponsorship of the Catholic Church in Sri Lanka.
At the moment 29 children (26 girls, 3 boys), aged between 11 and 18 years, live in the home. Some of the children are orphans or half-orphans, others have been abandoned or abandoned by their parents for various reasons. The nuns in Bandarawela give the children a new, loving home where they receive food and clothing, are given the opportunity to attend school and generally lead a life of dignity.
